TWINSBURG — Peter Weiss of Twinsburg has attained the rank of Eagle Scout within the Boy Scouts of America, after completing his project and final requirement May 18.

There will be an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the First Congregational Church of Twinsburg to celebrate this auspicious occasion Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. Weiss joined Cub Scouts in 2006 with Pack 67, sponsored by the Faith United Methodist Church of Twinsburg.

He started as a Tiger cub scout and advanced through the rank to become a Webelos scout. He received his Arrow of Light in March 2011 and crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 223, sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Twinsburg and lead by Scoutmaster Peter Dale. Weiss continued his scouting career under the leadership of Scoutmasters Dale and Scott Branstetter.

His Eagle Scout Project involved researching, planning, funding and constructing a replacement fence around the butterfly garden at the Twinsburg Public Library. With the help of family, friends, fellow Scouts and the staff of the Garden Club of Twinsburg, Weiss coordinated and supervised the construction and installation of a wooden fence. The fence improves the appearance of the garden tremendously as well as increases protection from harmful wildlife, making the garden a pleasing place to rest, meditate and take in the activities in the butterfly garden.
