BARNESVILLE - The 48th annual Doan Ford-Barnesville Wrestling Invitational featuring nearly 30 teams will take place Friday and Saturday at Barnesville High.
Joining the Shamrocks will be Beallsville, Bellaire, Brooke, Buckeye Local, Cabell Midland, Caldwell, Claymont, Coshocton, East Liverpool, Hurricane, Indian Valley, John Glenn, Martins Ferry, Meadowbrook, Monroe Central, Parkersburg South, Ridgewood, River, Sandy Valley, Shadyside, Shenandoah, Steubenville Catholic, Union Local, Weirton Madonna, Westfall, West Muskingum and Wheeling Park.
Weigh-ins are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, with first-round action set to begin at 4:30. Opening day competition will also include second round championship bouts along with first and second round consolations.
Saturday will feature two sessions - the first starting with weigh-ins from 7:30-8:30 a.m. followed by quarterfinals at 9:30; third round consolations at 11; championship semifinals at 12:30 p.m.; fourth-round consolations at 1:30 and consolation semifinals at 2:30.
That sets the stage for Saturday’s final sessions at 4:30 p.m., with first through sixth place to be determined in each weight class.
Trophies will be presented to the first and second place teams and plaques will be given to the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler and the top six wrestlers in each weight class.There will also be an award to the wrestler with the most pins in the least amount of time.
Admission is $6 for each session or you can purchase an all-day pass for Saturday for $10.
