April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year, the Children’s Advocacy Center coordinated its 13th annual Pinwheels for Prevention campaign to create awareness and urge the public to be voices for children by reporting suspected abuse and neglect.

The pinwheel is the iconic symbol for child abuse prevention. About 200 volunteers from the local hospital, schools, police departments, churches and agencies participated. These community volunteers along with the Children’s Advocacy Center staff "planted" 1,000 pinwheels at 12 different locations throughout the county. Also, 1,080 fact cards with mini pinwheels were distributed along with other related community education activities. The Children’s Advocacy Center is grateful for the caring spirits of all who participated.
