Cloud Nine Dance in Rootstown had an eventful summer as the girls performed both at the Dance the World performance at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., and then concluded their summer with a performance at the Portage County-Randolph Fair.

The girls traveled to Walt Disney World for four days, rehearsing and performing at Epcot’s Girls, traveling to and performing at Dance the World at Epcot in the American Exhibition Center and concluding their way dancing their way around Epcot in a Walt Disney World parade for all guests.

The girls now begin fall lessons with the competitive dance team looking to perform at several competitions throughout the year.

There were 61 family members in attendance at the second annual Madonio Reunion on Aug. 29 at SamLil Farm in Rootstown.

Frank and Debbie Madonio traveled the farthest to enjoy the company of family members, arriving from Miami, Fla.

The highlight of the day was the water balloon fight between the children.

All family members enjoyed homemade food served for lunch.

The Rootstown Area Chamber of Commerce is planning the annual Business & Community Expo set for Oct. 27 at the NEW Center at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Expo welcomes businesses serving Rootstown and the surrounding area to reserve a booth or become a sponsor.

With more than 400 people expected to attend, the event also sponsors children’s activities including trick-r-treating and a costume contest as well as touch-a-truck.

For adults attending, there will be a Chinese Auction and a raffle ticket sale.

All proceeds benefit the Chamber’s scholarship fund.

The First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Rootstown welcomes everyone to the first monthly public dinner of the season on Saturday from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The menu includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, salads, vegetables, desserts and beverages.

Adults pay $10 and children $4 for the meal that can be consumed in the church hall or taken home.

The church is handicap accessible and is located at the intersection of S.R. 44 and Tallmadge Road.
