Semi-annual hydrant flushing will begin in Newcomerstown at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16. The hydrant flushing will begin in the quadrant north of the railroad tracks and west of Bridge Street; when that is completed, the work will move to the quadrant north of the railroad tracks and east of Bridge Street; when that is completed, the work will begin south of the railroad tracks and west of Bridge Street; when that is completed, the project will wrap up by flushing hydrants in the area south of the railroad tracks and east of Bridge Street. Officials said that if the water is discolored, let it run for a short period of time. Tom Sauerbrey, Utilities Superintendent, said the water is safe to drink and that the department is sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Save the date and plan to attend the Newcomerstown Band Show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Lee Stadium. The Newcomerstown Marching Band will host other area bands, in addition to featuring alumni band members in a number. Newcomerstown Music Boosters will be having concessions, band-themed spirit sales, 50/50, a hog raffle, and more. All proceeds from this event directly benefit the band in its upcoming trip to perform at a College Football Bowl Game in Florida this December. Rotary Car Show
The Newcomerstown Rotary Club annual Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show is set for Saturday, Sept. 16, at Newcomerstown High School, 659 Beaver St. Dash plaques go to the first 50 registered; registration fee is $10. Registration is from 1-3 p.m. with awards to the top 25 and top three motorcycles at 5 p.m. There is also a Rotary President’s Choice award. Music Explosion will be playing oldies. ARTSNCT, 304 S.College St., Newcomerstown, will have a "Cruise-In" on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 5-8 p.m. The event will feature 50’s and 60’s music, food and vintage cars. It is open to any type of vehicle with dash plaques to the first 50 registrants. Registration is $5 from 4-7 p.m. There will be food and a raffle. Art on display
Joan Staufer, a local professional artist, will be displaying a variety of older and recent landscape and abstract art in mixed media on wood and canvas at the West Lafayette Library during the month of September. The Library is open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Bluegrass Gospel / Country Music Jam is planned for the third Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. at the Historic Everals Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road just west of Newcomerstown. The event is hosted by Chestnut Hill bluegrass band and sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society.
