The Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional organization composed of leading women educators, is entering a new biennium for 2018-20. The chapter is celebrating its 80th birthday this year.
The group recently held its annual initiation of new members and installed new officers during a brunch held at On Tap Restaurant in Stow. Theta members gathered for conversation and enjoyed brunch from the On Tap menu, prior to the ceremony.
The newly initiated members are Brooke Nagy of Tallmadge City Schools and Caroline Lenzo and Kara Lowe of Kent City Schools. Each initiate was presented with a red rose and the Delta Kappa Gamma pin from their sponsors. A New Member Tea/Orientation had previously been held at the Silver Lake home of Theta sister Sarah Kaplan and was presented by Meagan Joseph, Membership Chair.
Incoming officers for the biennium are Abbey Bolton, president; Ellen Budd, vice president; Pam Vanags, treasurer; Kristen Caipen and Janelle Pfeiffer, co-recording secretaries; and Melody Vardon, corresponding secretary. Jeane Nolte is the immediate past president.
The group also kicked off a new year of fellowship, meetings, speakers and service projects during a summer picnic held at the Hudson home of Theta Treasurer Pam Vanags. Theta will meet next for a combined meeting with the Gamma Upsilon chapter on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Ravenna.
