The outlook for live music tonight is pretty grim. Only show I can find anything about is somebody named Colbie Caillat at the Newport. Since she (Is she even a she? Answer: Yes!) is playing the Newport, she must be at least moderately famous, but I have no clue who she is. Her obtuse name makes her sound like one of the Brafftastic singer-songwriters that my former colleague Brooke Preston loves.
The best I can do is recommend shows I have been enjoying so far this fall, namely Pushing Daisies (8 p.m., ABC) and Gossip Girl (9 p.m., CW). Yes, Gossip Girl is total trash, but I enjoy it, so back off. You probably watched I Love New York this week anyway, stone-caster.
I'll throw in a couple potentially good reality shows: At 10 p.m. Versus is introducing South Sydney Story, a new series about Russell Crowe's attempt to buy a failing, publicly owned rugby club in Australia. And if that doesn't cut it for you, America's Next Top Model (8 p.m., CW) is going to make one of its contestants shave her head.
