The preview from last week's paper tracks my personal history with Meat Puppets, who'll make two appearances tonight in Columbus. The Arizona cowpunk progenitors will first play a free in-store at Used Kids Records, 1980 N. High St., at 6 p.m. Then they'll head to The Summit, where they'll play a sick double bill with Retribution Gospel Choir. Doors open at 8 p.m. for that one, which costs $15 at the door ($13 presale).
If you'd prefer, there's a U.S. men's soccer World Cup qualifier at Costa Rica tonight at 10 on ESPN2. Coverage begins at 9:30 p.m. (Don't let the time on the U.S. Soccer site fool you; it's Mountain Time.) The Crew's Frankie Hejduk is out with a groin injury, but that's no reason not to cheer on the rest of the yanks.
