While the San Francsico trio’s name conjures images of the earth, more often than not its music takes to the skies.
The soaring, electro-tinged “Kites” dips and climbs like its namesake, while the atmospheric “The Boulder” drifts through like a morning fog despite its weighty name. Indeed, even when frontman Michael Deni sings of journeying to the bottom of the ocean floor on “Shell Beach,” his voice remains light and airy, skimming the surface with the grace of a passing seagull.
