Gourmet weiners and brats, including vegan options, on the menu

DareDevil Hot Dogs is opening Friday, Nov. 21 in the old Commonwealth Sandwich Bar space at 1437 N. High St. The restaurant promises gourmet hot dogs in a fast-casual setting. It will include a 12-seat counter, patio space and a service window into Village Idiot bar next door.

The team behind DareDevil is Mike Gadd, Bill Garland and Tomos Mughan, with Gadd taking on chef duties. Gadd's menu focuses on a build-your-own concept. Customers can choose from meats like pork brats, chicken sausage, all-beef hot dogs and vegan dogs, plus four bun options including brioche and pretzel buns, and a lineup of housemade toppings and sauces.

They also encourage customers to "Be Daring" as well and choose from specialty menu items like the Thrill Seeker, the Sky Diver or the Stunt Double. The High Wire Act, for instance, features a pork brat with pineapple-avocado guacamole and smoked bacon on a split-top bun. The Fire Eater is loaded with a buttermilk fried chicken brat with Sriracha-orange buffalo sauce, vegetables, and a blue cheese aioli on a brioche bun.

The opening night party will include Village Idiot and feature a raffle with prizes like Blue Jackets tickets and Watershed Distillery goods.
