The owner of Ladybird Fashion boutique in the Short North has her hand in every corner of her business - from promoting the store through blogging, to working with designers on collaborations and curating every item in her stock, she is a true entrepreneur. Ladybird is a trendy boutique with bright blue walls covered in some of the most exciting fashion in the city. From blush pink bike shorts to high-waisted, flare-leg denim to matching pantsuit sets, the fruits of Jayjack's labor embody her persona: strong, feminine and current.
"I want to carry pieces that appeal to all women, modern classics that translate for all ages," Jayjack said of the Ladybird lines. "I don't have like one set 'Ladybird girl' in mind, I like to see how people take these pieces and make them their own."
Next weekend Ladybird is hosting a trunk show for BB Dakota, but Jayjack took time out of preparations to talk upcoming trends, brands and other things she loves.
Lacausa "My friend Rebecca Grenell is going to be huge. Free People and Anthropology just picked up her clothes. It's simple, easy, cool clothing. Her clothes are the type of things both the ladies and the girls want to wear."
Leopard Print "I have three young nieces, and whenever they go school shopping they always say things like 'Well, Aunt Allison would like this because it has leopard print.' I love the classic prints."
Lifted Studio "When you think pilates you think it would be pretty relaxed, but this is pilates on a reformer, and it's a lot more intense than you'd think. I need a hard, high intensity work out."
Harbor Yoga Studio "Harbor changed my life. I was always kind of intimidated by yoga, but I went here, and now I do it every day. It's good music, fast-paced and it just keeps you going."
McGuire Denim "This is a new brand of denim that I love. It's so beautiful, they feel like pajamas but they hold their shape and fit really well. That's what you want in denim: comfortable but stylish. We have a few pairs that are high-waisted and look amazing with big belts."
Chertova "It's a handcrafted jewelry and clothing line that is really unique. I did a trunk show for them, and a couple of weeks later I got a hard cover look book from them and it just blew me away. They do awesome stuff and their aesthetic is great."
Grandview Vintage Stores "If I'm not shopping through the store, I'm shopping vintage. Their merchandising at Grandview Mercantile is awesome, so off-the-wall and wacky. I also love Second Chance in Grandview. You'll always find something you want but not need."
