Tonight is a night of many pleasant returns. Consider the appearance by the Terribly Empty Pockets at Surly Girl Saloon, 1126 N. High St. I was listening to some early songs from the former Columbus nerve-pop group the other day and remembering just how awesome they are at what they do. It's a good thing they still make it down from Canada every once in a while. They'll be joined by The Black Canary for this free show at 10 p.m.
Or what about Aaron Lee Tasjan, the local boy who comes through Ravari Room tonight as a member of NYC-based glam rockers Semi Precious Weapons. He'll be back next week to hawk his new solo album, a rollicking alt-country affair, but tonight it's all about pomp and circumstance. Joining the fun will be Lollipop Factory, Razorbliss and jambulance drivers Bullet Jones.
Then there's the television, which brings us back our long-lost friends at 30 Rock (8:30 p.m., NBC) and The Office (9 p.m., NBC). I'm practically giddy about this. Both of the new episodes tonight are being touted as one of each respective series' best. We shall see. Scrubs (9:30 p.m., NBC) is also back, though that's not nearly as exciting as those other two.
