Today is Good Friday, but it's especially good for Sinatra. The local rapper-producer's new DJ Drama-affiliated mixtape, The Black Trash Bags Story, is on sale today through his site. The tape is hot, especially "Get It How I Live," which will appear on Alive's annual local music compilation album this summer.
Things are looking good for the South Side native. Considering Drama's mixtapes helped catapult Lil Wayne and many more to stardom, getting the Atlanta DJ to host Black Trash Bags was a major coup. But even without the famous affiliations, Sinatra's latest is undeniably hot. He's got a well-rounded style that comes hard without resorting to big blunt shouts and gestures. His "superhero music" production style lends a suitably epic air to the proceedings. I'm looking forward to putting together a feature on the dude for next week's paper. Be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, have a listen to his stuff, buy the download/CD combo and catch Sinatra opening for Jim Jones and Gucci Mane on May 1.
