Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin

As I mentioned Friday, Gossip is playing a MySpace Music Secret Show tonight at Circus, 1227 N. High St. Doors open at 8 p.m. and admission is free, provided you get there early enough to get inside. And if you're going, there's no reason not to arrive early since masterful mashup unit The Hood Internet is opening.

There's another big show at The Summit, 2210 Summit St., featuring a band that inhabits a much different part of the indie rock landscape: Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. Besides depriving Japanese art metal powerhouse Boris of the URL, this Springfield, Mo. combo plays cute, peppy indie pop full of saccharine harmonies, wistful chord progressions and playful transformations. That makes Karate Coyote and Our Cat Philip good choices to start things off. Tickets cost $10 at the door, which opens at 8 p.m.
