The weekend's biggest local music event is more of a variety show: the first installment of 11-week vaudevillian extravaganza The Greatest Show. Down in the Peach District, the city's latest fake neighborhood/bohemian rallying point, lots of creative types of different stripes are getting together at Dragonfly Neo-V, 247 King Ave., to entertain and stimulate. This is a truly ambitious project that could turn out to be quite a bright spot for Columbus nightlife. Try to make it out to one, why don't ya? Check my feature for more info.
That Moon High/Black Swans/Vug & the Stallions show tonight at Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St., should be the bee's knees too. Three diverse strains of folk rock (and three of the city's best bands) in one convenient package. 10 p.m., $5, you know how they do.
I'm also psyched for Saturday's Jookabox/Old Hundred/Bird and Flower/The Woozies show at Wild Goose Creative, 2491 Summit St. Here's mah preview.
