Beat the heat and get some highfalutin culture today in movie theaters that are screening the French ballet "Giselle" at noon and 7:30 p.m. Billed as the first-ever 3D ballet, this is the newest offering from the folks who bring the Metropolitan Opera and Shakespeare to movie theaters. Because sometimes it's tough to get to New York, London or, in this case, St. Petersburg, Russia, for performing arts.

"Giselle" has all the ghosts and tragic-love storyline a person expects from a ballet. The story goes like this: Girl falls for a nobleman disguised as a commoner. She dies in what can only be described as a complete bummer of a situation. In the afterlife, she protects him from a bunch of jilted-bride ghosts. The performance was recorded at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.
