Owner Jonas Laughlin and his team raised the capital through Kickstarter to transform his home-business bakery into a retail storefront at 15 E. Second St. Laughlin has been selling his goods at pop-up bake shops, catering events and charitable donations for more than a year, but he desired the move to a brick-and-mortar location in Short North. He's especially focused on the creation of a small neighborhood bakery.

In August he successfully completed his Kickstarter campaign by raising more than $43,000 of his $35,000 goal. The Kickstarter funds went toward purchasing bakery equipment and leasing/outfitting the bakery space.

Laughlin's baked goods have a largely European focus, although he works in old southern favorites as well. Some of his best-sellers include croissants, layer cakes, lemon madeleines and Christmas cookies. Other bakery items include rustic breads, pies, tarts, tea cakes, scones and even some gluten-free offerings. With the opening of the retail bakery, expect to see some expansion and rotation in his menu, as well as drinks.
