Columbus musicians turn out in force for NPR Tiny Desk Concert contest
Saintseneca performs on an episode of the NPR series "Tiny Desk Concerts"
"Tiny Desk Concerts," a popular NPR web series that features intimate performances recorded live at the desk of "All Songs Considered" host Bob Boilen, recently featured a contest where one grand prize winner would be selected to travel to the NPR offices to film a "Tiny Desk" video of his or her own.
The deadline for submissions closed on Jan. 19, and a winner is set to be announced on Thursday, Feb. 12. In the interim, NPR has been posting some of its favorite submissions to its Tumblr site, which you can visit by clicking here.
It shouldn't surprise that Columbus musicians turned out in force for the contest. Our city already has something of an established history with the program (scroll down to the bottom of this post to watch past concerts featuring Saintseneca and Lydia Loveless), and a wealth of artistic talent to draw upon. Check out the local submissions in the videos below, and if you know of any we missed send 'em along so we can add them to the post. Well done, everyone. And good luck!
