Breakaway lineup announced

Following a two-year absence, the Breakaway Music Festival makes a welcome return later this summer with a lineup featuring headliners Dillon Francis, Young Thug, RL Grime and "how is that pronounced again?" rap duo Rae Sremmurd.

The festival debuted in 2013 at what was then known as Crew Stadium with a heavy-hitting roster that included Bassnectar, Twenty One Pilots and a then-rising Kendrick Lamar (read our review of the day here). Action shifts to the Ohio Expo Center this year.

The new locale is matched by a narrower, more focused lineup heavy on EDM and hip-hop acts. Additional performers announced includeTy Dolla $ign, Alison Wonderland, Benny Benassi, Waka Flocka Flame, Desiigner, Skizzy Mars, Jerreau and more.

Prime Social Group, the Columbus-based promoter behind Breakaway and Athens' similarly targeted Fest, is expected to announce an additional major headliner in the near future (note the giant question mark currently topping the Saturday lineup).

Tickets for the event, which takes place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26 and 27, begin at $85 for a two-day general admission pass. Visit for more information or to purchase tickets.
