Looking for something to do this weekend? We've got you covered.

Local artist Stephen King plays Rumba Cafe

Though Steven King described his new EP, What We Needed, as a "gentle" record, it's far from an easy listen. Against a lush, folk- and Americana-tinged backdrop layered with warm piano and sweet, sighing cello, the singer and songwriter delves into a romantic relationship crumbling beneath the weight of addiction. Many of the EP's songs date back to early 2015 and are informed by a challenging year that included a mugging, a planned tour that imploded as it neared the finish line and the aforementioned relationship.

Holiday Hop takes over Short North Arts District

Whether you've rushed headlong into the holiday season or need a little push to overcome some post-Thanksgiving inertia, Saturday's Short North Holiday Hop might be just what you need. The shops and galleries will be decorated for the holidays (indeed, you can vote for your favorite during the festivities), outdoor entertainment will be provided by choirs from Ohio Dominican University, Hilliard Davidson High School and more, and Santa will be hanging out at Victorian Gate for photos from noon-9 p.m. There are galleries still pushing boundaries this month, full of interesting and challenging work. Check out exhibition openings both Friday and during Saturday's Hop.

Thalia Zedek brings E to Big Room Bar

Before Boston-based songwriter Thalia Zedek (ex-Come) visited Columbus in October with the Thalia Zedek Band, she mentioned that she also had a new band, E, which she formed in 2013 with Jason Sanford of Neptune. Gavin McCarthy of Karate later joined on drums, and now E is embarking on its first tour. E is a more experimental, collaborative project than the TZ Band, with each member singing and writing songs.
