Artist: Earwig Track: "Outro" Album: Center of the Earth (2006) Listen

About the music

This friendly and intelligent Columbus power trio is among the city's best combinations of rock energy and everything that defines contemporary pop - that delicate and fickle art form so many decry and so few master.

Likely, you've heard the first single "Used Kids," which has been on heavy rotation on CD101. "Outro" is one of about six songs on the band's latest album that could make more waves on the air...waves. It's even got sound bites from a space shuttle launch.

Why to know it

In addition to radio exposure, frontman Lizard McGee mentioned in an email that the band will be reaching new markets in the coming weeks.

A while back, Meijer started a program to highlight new music by distributing unsigned bands through its retail grocery locations. Starting the second week of May, Earwig's record will be available at 178 super-stores around the Midwest. Good news for those who want to buy cheap steaks, bargain produce and awesome music.

Bonus: I don't know the band's early records as well, but they are solid, according to many hip kids. You can stream each one here. (Click the Jukebox link.)
