Artist: The Lindsay Track: "Change My Oil" Album: Live at the Fillmore West
I wasn't crazy about the first demo version of this song, but then I heard it live at the Lindsay set at Comfest (easily one of the festival's three best performances), and bammmm!!
If there is such a thing as a perfect set, the Lindsay nailed it. It was tight. It was fun. It was incredibly loud. My ears were fuzzy until 2 p.m. the next day.
DeVille is correct that the band's primary skill is interweaving noise and melody. Not only the sounds - dissonance and harmony - but the actual ethics of each - ripping apart, putting together.
That's what they did Saturday night at the Offramp Stage. That's why indie-heads and my friends from out of town were dancing together as one.
That's it right there: The Lindsay - Great Uniters of People.
Bonus: Try to figure out if the band's talking about caring for a car engine or something a bit more romantic...
