Artist: The Epochs Track: "Opposite Sides" Album: The Epochs Listen
I was never a big Genesis fan -- which is why it's weird that I'm fascinated by bands fascinated by Genesis. The Epochs (pronounced like "peacocks") is another one to follow the lead of the Phil Collins-era of the prog-rock pioneers. Unlike Yeasayer, who added world beat and African drums into its sound, this Brooklyn outfit is more interested in the big, clear arena vocal harmonies and the good-feeling pop stylings. My first move after listening to the opening track from their self-titled release (out last week) was to download "Misunderstanding" and severl of tracks from Duke. Then I played the rest of The Epochs, a pleasant, essential album of 2008.
(By the way, the band come to Cleveland's Beachland Tavern on April 18.)
