The new album from Rick Ross is really bizarre. From a star who seemed to be so immersed in a genre known for unwavering sameness, bizarre is good. Called Deeper Than Rap, the record does just that, borrowing heavily from classic soul, Antares club rap and the sunny yacht rock popular in Miami Beach circa 1985.
I guess this shouldn't be surprising, because the cover art pictures Ross looking like a cross Curtis Mayfield and Tony Montana. The track features appearances by Kanye West, T-Pain and Lil Wayne. A great single from an album I'll be studying for weeks.
