What's the crowd like here at Zuey's?
It's like a giant living room here. Literally, everybody walks in and makes themselves at home.
I work Tuesday and Thursday nights and I love it because I know I can see the same people every time I walk in. They're just a nice, good group.
What do you do when you're not working?
I have two kids, so they keep me plenty busy. I'm running because I'm training for a marathon in April. I try to get that in as much as possible, but when it's cold ...
I also like to go out to dinner. If I get a chance to get a nice dinner, I try to.
Where do you go?
I like to try everywhere. But the Mohawk in German Village has an ambiance I love. That's one place I like to go to in the winter, because if it's snowing that place is really nice.
Where do you go to get a drink?
I definitely come here because I know I'm going to see someone I can talk to. If I'm not here, I love Brew-Stirs on Weber. It's just a fun little hole to go disappear in for a while.
I'm definitely a local dive bar kind of girl. I think that's why I've stayed here so long. It's just a nice comfy place.
What do you drink?
I'm a beer drinker. Lately, I've been drinking Sam Adams Winter Lager. I'm totally weak when it comes to shots. If somebody says, "You want a shot?" I'm like, yup.
What do you like about bartending?
It's just really fun. I'm not a stand-out kind of girl, but behind the bar, I'm like a different person. I have no problem walking up to someone and being like, "How are you doing, come on in, what can I get you?"
The crowd really helps. It can really make or break it. It can be hard to put on a happy face if you've got a bunch of grumps sitting around.
If you could have a drink with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
I always thought hanging out with Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra would be fun. They would have a million drunk stories that would be shocking. You'd never leave - three days would go by.
