Why you should go:
With ComFest taking over Downtown this weekend, Powell Festival offers a more relaxed atmosphere than the revelry found in Goodale Park. There's still plenty going on, though - expect two days of live music, street hockey by the Street Jackets, an expansive kid's area and a fireworks display to cap everything off Saturday night.
What to eat & drink:
Powell's charming English-style pub Lost Shepherd will dish out their popular fish and chips, fried green tomatoes and a healthier hummus plate with pita bread and pickled veggies. And you shouldn't have a problem tracking down your favorite festival fare at nearby concession stands.
Ten bands will play all day Friday and Saturday. Our pick? Check out festival headliners McGuffey Lane's brand of pop country on Saturday.
One of the most noteworthy attractions may be found in the kids area, but it's just as fun for adults. The Turtle Lady, aka Nancy Lockard, will let festgoers interact with her reptilian friends. Yes, she'll bring her giant turtles.
