Mediterranean sensibilities and Asian influences merge on the pretty plates of unusually creative food that have made Dragonfly famous (it's a recent James Beard nominee). Without question, this is the best vegetarian restaurant ever in the area. Think artsy, not hippie; think innovative cocktails, not penance-paying soymilk; and think again if you don't believe vegetable-based meals can be exciting.

The goods: Dragonfly reaps many of its high-grade ingredients from its own Dragonfly Kitchen Gardens, like: purple shiso, sour cherries, fennel leaves and red currants. Dragonfly also gets baby lettuces from Toad Hill, plus Siberian kale and candy-striped beets from Mainstream Farms (Plain City).
Eat this: Comforting, dense homemade sour cherry pierogies with two sauces; a stark curried risotto with braised kale, and a bright red currant parfait.
