Reviews of new DVD releases
"Clash of the Titans"
$24 (DVD), $30 (Blu-ray)
Looking back, the 1981 version of this man-against-gods thriller has the boyish charm of a diorama. All of that is gone in this slick, big-budget remake, which follows the quest of demigod Perseus (Sam Worthington) to avenge the death of his family and save a princess. If you like Greek mythology - and badass beasts like the Kraken - you can't go wrong.
$20 (DVD), $25 (Blu-ray)
Unlikely partners Jimmy Monroe (Bruce Willis) and Paul Hodges (Tracy Morgan) will do anything to track down a stolen baseball card - except play by the rules! Kevin Smith directs.
"21 Jump Street: The Complete Series"
A young police squad goes undercover to investigate crime in high schools and other teen venues - kind of like an after-school special combined with "NYPD Blue." The premise of "21 Jump Street" sounds (and often was) totally ridiculous, but it was a TV powerhouse in the late '80s. It launched both the fledgling Fox network and the career of Johnny Depp. This 18-disc set captures 103 episodes and a long list of guest stars that included Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn and Josh Brolin.
$28 (DVD), $35 (Blu-ray)
Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star as much more attractive versions of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, the real-life rockers who led The Runaways through a fantastic '70s romp.
$20 (DVD), $30 (Blu-ray)
Jude Law and Forest Whitaker star as hired guns who repossess organs from transplant patients who fail to pay up. And you thought the goon coming for your Camaro was crazy.
