Jeremy Vegas - Meister's Bar
Name: Jeremy Vegas
Hometown: Continental, Ohio
What do you love about Mei ster's Bar?
It's just a good environment - they keep a very clean bar, and they're really friendly here. It's not just people like me who live really close. I've heard people in here say, "I love this place, and I drive from Dublin to come down here."
You even have a Mei ster's tattoo.
Yes, I've gone the extra mile for Meister's. They wanted to do a billboard of it really bad, but the billboard people have standards, apparently. [laughs]
But you're not a human billboard, right?
This was my idea 100 percent. I felt enough of a tie to this bar that I started thinking of what can I do to help promote it. It's mainly a joke, it's hilarious as s---, but at the same time it was definitely something I wanted to do.
So do you get compensated through discounts or anything ?
Yes. It's a benefit as someone who comes here regularly to not have a ridiculous tab, because I'm definitely invested in this bar.
The placement is priceless.
They laid it out higher and smaller, but I'm the kind of person that if I'm going to do something, it's all out or nothing. I had to just go ahead and do it big and do it right.
And I had to have it low enough that I'm definitely mooning someone if I show them the tattoo. It's like getting a tattoo on your middle finger. [laughs]
What do you do when you're not at Meister's?
I'm in a band called Vegas 66. It's pretty much what I do with most of my time - we travel all over. It's a rockabilly band. I play an upright bass. It's music that makes me smile.
What are some of your favorite albums?
Reverend Horton Heat's "Martini Time," Johnny Cash's "Live at Folsom Prison," Stray Cats' "Built for Speed," Social Distortion's "Prison Bound," and the Misfits' "Static Age."
Any other hobbies?
One of my hobbies is working on old cars. I have a '51 Chevy Bel Air and a '54 Chevy truck. I've done everything to the Bel Air - rewire it, lower it and put disc brakes on it. It's always a project in the works.
