Do catastrophic world events have you looking for a chipper, feel-good, pick-me-up of a movie? How about a flick about the bubonic plague?

Set in the height of its namesake pandemic, "Black Death" follows a knight (Sean Bean of "Lord of the Rings") as he leads a group investigating a mysterious village that's reportedly free of the plague.

The medieval action and some lovely, swamp-filled cinematography make this one a step above for those interested in the Dark Ages. More casual audiences can probably do better.

"Death" is showing as part of the Gateway's "Nightmares on High Street" series.
