Sole Classics + Milk Bar

765 N. High St., Short North

These adjacent Short North boutiques form a Columbus hip-hop hub. Sole Classics, in conjunction with owner Dionte Johnson's Kingsrowe blog, promotes big concerts and new releases from exciting Columbus talents. Catch those same rappers performing in-store during Gallery Hop or hanging out there just about any day of the week. Throwing a major hip-hop event? Skully's is your place. The Short North club plays host to Milk Bar's popular hip-hop dance nights Get Right and O-Gee in addition to a steady stream of local and national rap powers. Talent contests, variety showcases, album release parties, national rappers on the rise - it's all at Skully's.

Club Icon

231 N. 5th St., Downtown

Among other things, Icon is the site of Summer Jam 614, the former home of Fly.Union's bimonthly party Whudup Wednesdays and the new location of Searius Add's weekly spoken-word throwdown Black Tuesday. A monthly summer concert series is bringing the likes of Raekwon, Slick Rick and Rakim to the outdoor stage. Power 107.5 often hosts parties there, too, such as last year's New Year's Eve bash.

The Mansion

303 S. Front St., Downtown

If your favorite rapper is coming to town and/or your favorite local rapper is opening, it's probably at The Mansion (space formerly known as Red Zone and Karma), assuming the act is too big for Skully's and too small for the LC Pavilion.
