10. Ghost Rider
The comic book Ghost Rider, definitely not the one from the terrible Nic Cage movie. Although not all the blame goes to Cage, as the movie was directed by the same guy who did “Daredevil.”
9. Clyde
We wonder if Inky, Blinky and Pinky bullied the orange Pac-Man ghost because his name didn’t rhyme. We wonder if Clyde ever found love with Sue, the lady ghost from Ms. Pac-Man. We wonder a lot of weird stuff.
8. The twin girls from “The Shining”
Nightmares every time! Still! “Come play with us, Danny … forever and ever.”
7. Ghost Pepper
Also known as Bhot Jolokia, this 1 million-plus Scoville hottie was once the hottest in the world until it was surpassed by the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion (mmm, scorpion pepper). The current Guinness record-holder is the Carolina Pepper.
6. Slimer
He may have only had a bit part in the original “Ghostbusters” classic, but he became the crew’s pet on the animated series, “The Real Ghostbusters” — fun fact: Winston was voiced by Arsenio Hall — and was the mascot (and surely inspiration) of the sadly defunct, Slimer-colored Ecto Cooler.
5. Obi-Wan Kenobi
If you strike him down, he shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine. Also, glowy.
4. Space Ghost
The Hanna-Barbera superhero found a career revival as a cartoon talk-show host. His interviews with Thom Yorke and Bjork are particularly amazing.
3. Ghostface Killah
The most consistent of Wu-Tang’s solo artists (see Supreme Clientele, Fishscale) was a brilliant lyricist, but maybe an even better dresser — dude loved his Wallys (Clarks Wallabees) and often dyed them crazy colors.
2. Patrick Swayze
No, not his pottery-loving character from “Ghost.” Swayze may have passed, but the spirit of Dalton from “Road House” lives on in us all.
1. Beetlejuice
Qualifications, you say? He attended Juilliard, graduated from Harvard business school, travels extensively, lived through the Black Plague and has seen “‘THE EXORCIST’ ABOUT 167 TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME ...”
