Yes, there is plenty of fanfare over comic books at comic book conventions, but nowadays these events aren't exclusive to that medium. It's best to think of Wizard World's Ohio Comic Con as a welcoming space where anyone, from the remotely obsessive to the outright eccentric, can hang out. This year's programming is as diverse as ever, and offers so much more than Q&As with artists and writers. Attendees can check out specially coordinated segments with actors, directors, gamers and general enthusiasts (there's going to be a panel telling ghost stories, guys). Needless to say, there's plenty to nerd out on this weekend.

1. Behind the Role: Giancarlo Esposito

In an exclusive Behind the Role segment this year, Giancarlo Esposito, most notably recognized as "Breaking Bad's" Gustavo "Gus" Fring, will talk about his role as everyone's favorite love-to-hate drug lord. He'll also discuss his other work, particularly his spot as Major Tom Neville on NBC's prematurely cancelled "Revolution."

2. Shawn Coss: Cyanide & Happiness - Who Need TV???

Before social media was prevalent, webcomics like "Cyanide & Happiness" were the true purveyors of wasting time - in the best way possible. Now this weekend you can hear Shawn Coss, one of the creative minds behind the comics (and now occasional cartoon short), talk "Cyanide & Happiness," the shirts and posters he's designed for the strip, and just maybe, get to ask some questions yourself.

3. Out of the Shire with Sean Astin

Although there won't be another installment of "Lord of the Rings," the allure of one of fantasy's most distinguished trilogies - thanks to some excellent films - will probably live on forever. Samwise Gamgee, known as Sean Astin on real earth, is slated to talk not only LOTR and his role in that legacy, but also a curriculum vitae that includes "The Goonies," "Rudy" and Raphael on Nickelodeon's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

4. One-On-Two with The Boondock Saints

It's up for debate whether "The Boondock Saints" was actually a good movie. I think it ruled, and obviously the folks at Wizard World thought so too. On Sunday afternoon Sean Patrick Flanery (Connor MacManus) and David Della Rocco ("Funny Man") will hang out and reminisce about their times on the set of the cult classic.

5. A Halloween Hunt for Ghosts with a Professional Ghosthunter

Just in time for Halloween, Wizard Con's opening night will feature real-life ghost stories. Steve Gonsalves, of Syfy's "Ghost Hunters" fame and a true Atlantic Paranormal Society technology master and evidence analyst, will share a panel with Blastr's Editor-At-Large Aaron Sagers to share some authentic stories of haunting and paranormal activity.
