The songs on the Sacramento trio’s 2013 album X’ed Out arrive in a rush of disassembled puzzle pieces, the band members restlessly flitting between genres as diverse as math-rock, prog and ambient. Though the songs exhibit some advanced form of musical ADD, the musicians tend to alight on passages long enough for the hooks to take root, and there’s a genuine thrill in holding on through the rush on kinetic numbers like “Bite.”
