It's time for new wine! La Chatelaine hosts its annual Beaujolais Nouveau dinner on Thursday, Nov. 20. The fixed-price menu highlights the French tradition of celebrating the first wine from the year's harvest. The cost of the three-course meal includes a 2014 bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau.
Fan of Columbus Brewing Company beers? The Daily Growler in Upper Arlington is running the Mega CBC Tap Invasion from 7-11 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20. It’s your chance to sample 12 CBC brews, including rarer finds like Steel Dawn Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout and Lucy Imperial Belgian IPA. There are also specials on pints, flights and growler fills, and CBC owner Eric Bean and brewery rep Tony Corder will be on hand.
Cincinnati ex-pats can rejoice at a little piece of home arriving in Columbus. LaRosa’s Family Pizzeria is opening its first central Ohio location in Dublin at 7048 Hospital Dr. in Avery Square. The pizzeria is planning to begin serving their signature pizzas, pastas and hoagies on Monday, Nov. 24.
North Market announced last week that it will be at capacity starting early 2015, with the addition of Little Eater. Little Eater is the brainchild of Chef Cara Mangini; she’s been selling her mix-and-match vegetable salads at Hills Market, Stauf’s and Greener Grocer for years. The new stall is located at the north end of the market between Firdous Express and North Market Cookware. Mangini will serve her salads by the scoop, plus sandwiches and crostini, soups, frittatas, quiches and sweets.
FLIP Fall Food experience is taking place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at Vue in the Brewery District. The event benefits FLIP’s (Fight, Live, Inspire, Prevent) cancer prevention programs, and features local food vendors like Alchemy Juice Bar, Zauber Brewing, Luna Burger, Green Bean Delivery and more. The event also features an interactive chef battle from The Cooking Caravan.
Brothers Drake Meadery is releasing a limited-edition Bourbon Barrel Apple Pie mead on Sunday, Nov. 23, in conjunction with the release of its Apple Pie mead, made from Hugus Fruit Farm cider in Rushville, Ohio.
Acre Farm-To-Table held its soft opening this past weekend and will launch regular hours later this week. The restaurant is located at 2700 N. High St. and uses a fast-casual model focused on organic, free-range, locally sourced foods whenever possible. The menu includes bowls, wraps, salads and tacos, plus flavored sodas, coffee and smoothies.
DareDevil Hot Dogs is opening Friday, Nov. 21 in the old Commonwealth Sandwich Bar space at 1437 N. High St. near Campus. The restaurant promises gourmet hot dogs in a fast-casual setting. It will include patio space and a service window into Village Idiot bar next door. Customers will build their own hot dogs from meats like pork brats, chicken sausage and beef dogs, paired with different buns and toppings. Vegan and gluten free items will be included, too.
