Local folk-rock collective Saintseneca, which released the career-best Dark Arc on respected indie label Anti earlier this year, will put an exclamation point on a banner 2014 by headlining a concert at Newport Music Hall on Friday, Dec. 5 - its largest hometown show to date.

Along the way, the musicians performed a memorable set on the popular NPR series Tiny Desk Concerts, spoke out about R. Kelly’s inclusion at the inaugural Fashion Meets Music Fest (the controversial R&B singer was later dropped from the bill), and headlined a rowdy night of music at Strongwater during Femme Fest, a local event borne of the Kelly opposition.

The raucous show proved quite a change from Saintseneca’s earliest days, where the volume was often kept to a minimum. “Now it’s almost come full circle, because we do play more electric,” said singer/songwriter Zac Little in an early 2014 interview. Both band and audience should be buzzing when the crew takes the stage in front of the large, appreciative hometown crowd.
