Now in its 15th year, the Columbus Dance Theatre's "Matchgirl," inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's enduring fable, has become a bona fide holiday tradition.

Building off last year's collaboration with Ohio Wesleyan University Professor of Music Jason Hiester, an orchestral score will add a melodic supplement to the ballet. Last year the orchestra played only during Act I, but this year will perform throughout. The opening act features various works from Aaron Copland (including "Red Pony" and "Down a Country Lane"), while John Rutter's "Magnificat" will be Act II's musical accompaniment.

This year's "Matchgirl" is also the largest in the dance company's history, with more than 90 dancers and 150 performers including the orchestra and choir. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a 3 p.m. matinee Saturday.
