Cincinnati's MadTree Brewing began distributing cans of their beer in Columbus this week. Its first offerings are the Lift kolsch, Happy Amber, Gnarly Brown and PsycHOPathy IPA.
Lots of news from central Ohio distilleries! Last week Watershed released its newest offering, a black walnut liqueur called Nocino. Middle West Spirits just announced the first in its Double Cask Collection series, the OYO Oloroso Wheat Whiskey. Built from Ohio red winter wheat, Oloroso has been aged first in American oak barrels and then Oloroso Sherry casks. Mill St. Distillery, based out of Utica, just won a gold medal for its Mill St. Grappa at the 2014 International Review of Spirits.
Rambling House Soda is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to expand production capacity, bottle its sodas and meet increasing demand for kegs. The drive ends on Monday, Dec. 15, with supporters earning pint glasses and growler fills. Rambling House currently creates a ginger beer, sarsaparilla and a cola.

The Daily Growler in Upper Arlington is hosting a Seventh Son tap takeover from 7-11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11. A dozen beers will be featured, including specialty versions of the Oubliette Imperial Stout with ginger, sour cherries, or even peanut butter and chocolate. Daily Growler is offering specials on Seventh Son pints, flights and growlers that night.

The Bexley Coffee Shop is changing in ownership at the beginning of 2015. Owners Sean and Paulette Sullivan announced their last day of ownership is Dec. 31 (they're moving to South Carolina). New owners Nikke Ore and Maria Schlegel will re-open the shop in early 2015, selling scratch-made baked goods and Thunderkiss Coffee.
