Condado Tacos in Short North began serving brunch last weekend. Regular brunch hours run 12-3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The new menu includes items like the Chicken and Waffles Taco, the Biscuits and Gravy Bowl and the Sweet Potato Pork Belly Hash Taco. Brunch is supplemented by Bloody Mary's and Bloody Marias. The regular build-your-own menu is available during brunch hours, too.

Sweet Carrot Casual Cuisine announced it's opening a cafe in the old Rife's Market space on the corner of Fifth and Grandview avenues. Sweet Carrot has operated as a food truck based recently at the High Line Car House, and as part of Two Caterers catering company. Rife's Market closed late October 2014.

Prost Beer and Wine Cafe opened late December in Reynoldsburg. The cafe features 24 beer taps (with 20 assigned to Ohio brews), 30 wines available by the glass and a menu of salads, paninis and a bruschetta bar. The eatery is located in Olde Reynoldsburg at 7354 E. Main St. in an old fire station.

Bodega owners Collin Castore and Sangeeta Lakhani announced they've sold the restaurant and bar to Brian Swanson, in order to better focus on other ventures. Swanson does not anticipate making any major changes to the menu or the space.

This Saturday, Jan. 31 Mozart's Bakery & Piano Cafe celebrates its 20th anniversary by hosting a festival and open house from 12-9 p.m. The annual celebration coincides with its namesake's birthday, and includes live classical music (including an appearance from Clintonville piano prodigy Alex Van Bibber), samplings of Mozart's pastries, a wine tasting, plus arts and crafts vendors.

Scotland-based BrewDog brewery is apparently looking to build a production facility Stateside, and Stone Brewing CEO Greg Koch posted on Facebook that he's recommending expansion to Columbus or Norfolk. The two cities were finalists in the running for Stone's east coast production brewery, but lost out to Richmond. Koch said he plans to make direct introductions between BrewDog reps and those from each city.

Kroger announced last week it's purchased the recently closed Macy's in the Kingsdale Shopping Center, right across from the Giant Eagle Market District.
