The Grand Rapids, Michigan, collective takes its name seriously. Band members could pass for tenant farmers in press photos, and its music and lineup have both grown as organically as a potted plant transplanted to outdoor environs.

Launched as a husband-wife duo by Alex and Ashley McGrath, the band has since expanded to include seven members. The sound on last year’s Meridian, in turn, echoed this growth, incorporating songs ranging from hushed, delicate numbers to sprawling, prog-rock inspired turns that leave the earth further in the rearview.
