The second location of The Crest Gastropub opened its doors earlier this week at 621 Parsons Ave. on the South Side.

Owned by A&R Creative Group, the new Crest is situated next to their Alchemy Juice Bar & Cafe in the new Village Pointe building. The new gastropub is 4400 square feet and includes two patios and a rooftop garden.

There are some similarities to the original Crest location in Clintonville, although the design and menu include new features. The new spot features a wood-fired oven used to prepare many of the dishes. The emphasis is still on snacks and sharable items, while bigger sandwiches, salads and entrees are featured as well. Menu samplings include a falafel burger, seared rack of lamb, pan-fried trout and an asparagus dish with cauliflower rice. A&R's chef team also emphasizes vegan and vegetarian items on the menu, which leans toward French and Mediterranean influences.

A full grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29. The opening will coincide with the inaugural South Side Bike + Arts Festival in partnership with Bikes 4 All People. Festival features include bike maintenance workshops, yoga classes, a bike tour and a mural project created by local artists.

In addition to the Crest and Alchemy Juice Bar, A&R Creative Group owns The Market Italian Village, Ethyl & Tank, Fourth Street Bar & Grill and other properties. A brewpub collaboration with Hoof Hearted Brewing is scheduled to open this fall in Italian Village.
