Vanguard dance troupe New Vision Dance Company will present the aerial-themed "Taking Flight" this weekend.
This is the company's second full season and this is the first of three performances this season at the Garden Theater. Company dancers, as well as guest artists from Columbus Moving Company and Seven Dance Company, will be featured in "Taking Flight."
"Our aerial-themed choreography invites audience members to a journey through the clouds," artistic director Melissa Gould said. Each of the pieces incorporates a flight theme.
The program will include a number featuring Aliane Wilson performing with an aerial apparatus suspended over the stage and a new tap piece choreographed by company member Emily Whitacre. Local actor/singer Brandon Fox will perform "Come Fly With Me" and "Fly Me to the Moon" while the company performs classic jazz choreography.
"This will be exciting and have a real Rat Pack flair," Gould said.
Tickets are available through the Short North Stage at shortnorthstage.org.
