"Victor Frankenstein"

A new-ish twist on the classic Mary Shelley tale, this one focuses on a brash Dr. Frankenstein (James McAvoy) and his protégé Igor Strausman (Daniel Radcliffe). Looks ridiculous, but the casting is solid at least.

Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad") stars as Dalton Trumbo, a famed screenwriter whose career was famously derailed by Hollywood blacklisting during the communist panic that swept the industry.

Tara Subkoff directs this gory horror flick about cyberbullying turned into a night of terror. The young cast is joined by some '90s favorites we haven't heard from much lately (Chloë Sevigny, Balthazar Getty).

OK, so you probably got swept up in "Mockingjay" fever last weekend, but please don't miss one of the year's best films. It gets tears without being a downer and is ultimately uplifting. Promise.
