New in theaters for the weekend of Jan. 15

NEW IN THEATERS

"13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI"

It's a 2 1/2-hour Michael Bay movie about the 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya, and Fox News' Megyn Kelly found it "riveting." Welcome to 2016.

"THE HATEFUL EIGHT" IN 70MM

It wasn't for a lack of trying, but the Gateway Film Center was unable to secure an opening weekend slot for Quentin Tarantino's special Roadshow treatment of his new film in glorious 70mm. If you haven't seen this yet, this is the way to do it.

"NORM OF THE NORTH"

A displaced polar bear (voiced by Rob Schneider) and his lemming pals end up in New York City in this animated tale. Hilarity ensues. This is what the January studio dump is all about.

ALSO IN THEATERS

"THE REVENANT"

Well, this seems to be an Oscar frontrunner now, and it's certainly not lacking in epic. It's also exhausting and pretty overwrought. I liked it, didn't love it, but I'd give it a shot on the big screen.
