Storm King Stout, David Bowie's 'Blackstar', Faux Fur Ushanka Hat, and more.

STORM KING STOUT

This American Imperial is from an eastern Pennsylvania craft brewer. My sister discovered it on a trip through Philly a while back and, after making a follow-up trip, returned home with a case to share. So maybe the Thing I Love is my sister. - JIM FISCHER

DAVID BOWIE'SBLACKSTAR

The iconic rocker died on January 10 at the age of 69, following a long (and unpublicized) battle with cancer. His 25th and final album, released just days before his death, serves to document this struggle, and paints a picture of what might come next. "Look up here, I'm in heaven," he sings on "Lazarus," a heartrending song that doubles as a musical resurrection.- ANDY DOWNING

FAUX FUR USHANKA HAT

I finally sated an obsession with Russian-style winter hats with this purchase from Restoration Hardware, of all places. The chain offered a silly amount of faux fur gifts (Wine bottle bag? Hot water bottle?) during the holiday buying rush, including a classic ushanka hat in several colors and both "ultra" and "luxe" editions. Bonus for you: They're on final sale ($19.99) now. - KRISTEN SCHMIDT

GRAND PRIX KARTING

Racing 30+ mph on an indoor track is great activity for grownup birthday parties. Grand Prix was pretty awesome at organizing a race in honor of my boyfriend's birthday. Warning: Expect bruises, soreness and intense competitive fun. - ALYSE KORDENBROCK
