New release:

"Miles Ahead"

This nontraditional biopic of the life of Miles Davis is getting mixed reaction, although the consensus is Don Cheadle's performance is pretty great.

Alive recommends:

"Everybody Wants Some!!"

Richard Linklater's laid-back and funny "spiritual sequel" to "Dazed and Confused," set in a Texas college in the early '80s, delivers the same kind of charms. (3½ stars)

"The Jungle Book"

Jon Favreau did a great job directing this CGI-created "live action" version of the beloved story, and the voice casting, including Bill Murray and Christopher Walken, is pretty much genius. (3½ stars)

Limited screenings:

"Ghostbusters" in 70mm

The Gateway Film Center continues to make good use of its 70mm projector, this week bringing in the 1984 comedy to help get you warmed up for the female-led reboot arriving later this summer.

Also in theaters:

"Hardcore Henry"

An entire movie shot in the style of a first-person shooter, it tells the tale of a man who is resurrected from death and must save his wife from an army of bio-engineered soldiers. Yup.

"The Boss"

An unfortunately low-brow offering from the talented Melissa McCarthy, it's disappointing that this wasn't better, because there is some great chemistry with co-star Kristen Bell (2½ stars)

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"

This tent-pole superhero mashup had a monster opening because marketing and fanboys, but its rapid box-office decline is a pretty good indicator of how good it actually is. (2 stars)

"Zootopia"

Evolved animals living in cross-species harmony in this charming computer-animated offering from Disney (3 stars).
