I can't help but be a little baffled by the mainstream success Cage the Elephant has experienced so far. The Kentucky alt-rock act hit it big in the UK and then found an audience here in the States, all the while playing fairly straightforward classic rock with some '90s flavor. Black Keys singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach produced Cage the Elephant's most recent record, Tell Me I'm Pretty, but I prefer Auerbach's bluesy rock to Cage's, although "Back Against the Wall," off the band's 2008 self-titled record, is an undeniably great rock radio single.
