When Melissa Gould relocated to Columbus a few years ago, she brought the name of her formerly Seattle-based dance company with her, but in truth launched a new company. When that company found a home in the Short North's Garden Theater, Gould began propagating metaphors.

New Vision Dance Company's first show, three seasons ago, was titled "Fresh Cut." Last year's "Perennial Motion" is followed by this season's "Planting Seeds."

"Our focus is on engagement with the arts and culture scene in Columbus, planting the seeds of New Vision," Gould said.

"Planting Seeds" is a mixed-repertoire show, featuring lyrical, jazz, modern and even tap. The first half of the show will feature five pieces, including a guest ensemble from Chicago. The second act will be a tribute to Prince, set to a medley of the late artist's hits, as well as a couple deep cuts. The piece features a variety of group, solo and duet movements and "beautiful purple costumes," Gould said.
