Last New Year's Eve, Elisabeth Jeremica and Devin Copfer made a pact to combine their love of beer and chamber music in a new performance project. Hence Chamber Brews was born. The duo joins other musicians in performance at accessible venues for a unique experience that combines music, food, beer, coffee and conversation. The pair hosted its first event at Wild Goose Creative in May. An upcoming performance will take place Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 400 West Rich St. Here are a few things the two love.

Local Music Scene

After starting as a violinist at OSU, I am now in several bands and orchestras around the city. I met some of my closest friends and greatest mentors in this scene. I love that there are an incredible number of shows to see every night; you could hear a new music concert at Wild Goose Creative, the Jazz Orchestra at the Lincoln Theatre, a rock show at Spacebar or hip-hop at Scarlet and Grey. The support of great local granting agencies like the Greater Columbus Arts Council and Ohio Arts Council doesn't hurt, either. –Devin

Pattycake Vegan Bakery

There is nothing worse - I mean better - than living a block away from your favorite bakery. As an incentive to "adult" better, I often promise myself sweet treats, whether it is a snickerdoodle, a slice of the day or the ultimate: the Saturday morning Bourbon-Pecan sticky bun. –Elisabeth

Columbus Breweries

We can't get enough. We really love the sense of community that we feel every time we step into a local brewery. Whether it's Lineage, North High, Actual, Wolf's Ridge, Elevator or so many more, we feel instantly welcome. We admire the supportive spirit in the Columbus brewing community, and we are totally inspired by their creativity and pursuit of great beer. Without the amazing beer scene here in Columbus, this project would not work.

Balanced Yoga Clintonville

Speaking of community, both of us love the atmosphere and teachers at Balanced, as well as the focus and support we receive from our practice. As musicians - specifically, as string musicians - we experience tension and overuse of small muscles, just like athletes.Balanced is our go-to when we feel worn out or need re-centering physically and/or mentally.

Olentangy Trail

Whether we are taking a stroll with friends, thinking through the next Chamber Brews program or working off all the beer and Pattycake, the trail is our favorite escape. We love being able to explore all parts of Columbus, from the Downtown Scioto Greenway to the Shoe to the Metro Parks up north.
