The Columbus resident is competing to become a Lego Master Builder
Jenny is an Old North Columbus resident and a graduate student at the Ohio State University. She is a new registered nurse with a background in fine art and sculpture. She has very little extra time, spending too many hours in front of a computer screen and buried in textbooks. She is looking forward to graduating next spring when she will once again have time to spend with friends and family. Here are a few things she loves.
Duncan and High streets
I love my neighborhood. Besides having the best neighbors, it's a little microcosm of the world. What other corner in Columbus can you find Chinese food, Japanese food, Indian food, Mediterranean grocery, pizza by the slice, a magic theater, a laundromat/bar, a burlesque bar, a hookah bar, a gay bar and an arcade, as well as an independently owned hardware store, drug store, record store, tailor and salon.
This BBC show is not a new one, but only two out of three seasons are currently on Netflix. I am anxiously awaiting the third season release to see if the two lovable metal detector enthusiasts find their treasure in the English countryside. I love the characters, the calm pace and the hilarious dialogue. Plus, I think metal detectors are cool, and I like to dig up junk.
For several months, I have been swamped with telemarketers, random robo-calls from China, offers for medical alert bracelets and constant sales pitches from Spectrum. On a recommendation, I got the app RoboKiller which blocks about 80 percent of these calls. Not only that, but the app screws with the callers in a very Jerky Boys-esque way, recording the conversations so I can enjoy them later.
“Discover Weekly” on Spotify
Although I don't love most of the songs Spotify chooses to put on my list, I have been pleasantly surprised and learned about some artists I probably would never had found otherwise — both old and new. I'll find something that I never thought I would have liked. Some songs and artists that have caught me by surprise: “Hammond Song” by The Roches, “The Bird” by Anderson .Paak, “Restless Fugitive” by Willie Mason, “Vulnerable” by Sarah Jaffe, “Jungle” by Tash Sultane, “A Little Crazy” by Nicole Atkins and “Atomic Bomb” by William Onyeabor.
I've loved Legos since I was a kid, and I am honored to be participating in "Brick Factor" on Saturday, May 5, at Easton. Legoland will be opening this fall in Columbus, and they are looking for their new Master Builder — the 29th Master Builder in the world! I cannot believe that I get to be part of this event. I am going to have so much fun! You can be there to cheer me on. Action starts at 10 a.m.
